Our Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Preventative Wellness Care

Preventative medicine is part of helping your pet maintain long term health. At Parkway Veterinary Hospital , we believe that a complete "nose to tail " yearly examination is an integral part of maintaining proper care of your pet. Our doctors strongly recommend and provide annual physical examinations to help assess your pet's overall health, and make suggestions to stop problems before they start. Your pet's health changes as they age, and seeing the vet on a yearly basis can help us catch developing conditions before they compromise your pet's health.

Vaccinations

Due to the many recent discoveries and innovations in veterinary medicine, your pet can be protected from most major diseases. Today, many immunizations and preventive treatments are available that did not exist just a few years ago. The staff at Parkway Veterinary Hospital can help you decide what preventive measures are necessary for your pet.

Heartworm Testing and Prevention

Heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, is prevalent in this area of the country. At Parkway, we recommend annual heartworm testing and year round preventative medication for our patients. This test also checks for exposure to three tick borne diseases and the results are available within 10 minutes.

Surgery

Our hospital is equipped to perform surgical procedures - from spays and neuters to more complicated surgeries. We take pride in our new anesthesia equipment and our modern patient monitoring systems. Which include, pulse oximetry and an ultrasonic doppler blood pressure system.

Dentistry/ Digital Dental Radiography

Your pet requires regular dental care. Our physical examinations include a thorough evaluation of the oral cavity, and we help determine what your pet's dental health needs may be. We perform routine dental cleanings, extractions, digital dental x-ray and oral surgery. We also provide information and products to help maintain good oral health for your pet.

Digital Radiography

Radiographs are performed routinely at Parkway Veterinary Hospital and are essential to help diagnose certain medical and surgical conditions. Our state-of-the-art digital x-ray system allows images to be displayed and evaluated instantly on a computer. We can also save your pet's images on a CD, or e-mail them to a board certified radiologist if further evaluation and consultation is indicated.

Routine Labwork and Diagnostic Testing

Laboratory testing is an important component to help assess your pet's overall health. Parkway Veterinary Hospital is equipped with state-of-the art in-house testing equipment for routine blood screenings, pre-anesthetic evaluations, tick borne diseases, feline leukemia and immunodeficiency viruses, urinalysis and fecal examinations. Our extensive laboratory provides accurate and immediate information to help diagnose and treat your pet's conditions.

 Microchipping - Permanent Identification

A permanent type of identification for your pet that involves inserting a small chip (the size of grain of rice)  under their skin between the shoulders . Collars and tags may be lost but microchipping is permanent. Countless numbers of pets have been reunited with their owners by this method.

Each microchip has a unique number. This number, along with information about the owner and pet, are added to a national pet registry. Most veterinarians and animal shelters have electronic scanners for detecting and reading these implanted microchips. If a lost pet is found, and the microchip is scanned, the registry is called and the owner is contacted.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is an important, non-invasive diagnostic tool that helps explore medical conditions beyond a routine workup. We utilize the expertise of a traveling board certified veterinarian for both echocardiograms and abdominal ultrasounds at our hospital. Endoscopy is also offered by this clinician if needed.

Specialty Diets/Pharmacy

We maintain a full in-house pharmacy at our hospital. Parkway has an extensive inventory of medications, nutritional supplements and topical products to help your pet start treatment immediately.

Parkway Veterinary Hospital stocks a wide assortment of prescription and specialty diets. These diets are only available through a veterinarian, and are often a necessary component of treating your pet's conditions. The doctors and staff are educated to help guide you to choosing an appropriate diet for your pet's nutritional needs.
